Hope City KC

Hope City KC is a house of prayer and community center that seeks to bring social justice to the inner city of Kansas City through 24/7 prayer and missions. From the place of prayer a Community Center feeds the hungry, the Trade-Off-Program helps the addicts, the Youth Program is provided for at-risk kids, and Internships equip men and women to minister in the inner city.

Jesus who is the King of Social Justice said in Luke 18, “that we are to cry out night and day for justice to come to the earth.” Hope City is located in one of Kansas City’s toughest neighborhoods known for high gang violence, murder, and poverty. Daily we are confronted with real life scenarios where those who have been marginalized by society are forced into desperate situations.

We are given the opportunity to show the love of Jesus in word and deed and bring HOPE to the city.  We see the life changing power of God’s love and presence working everyday.

The Hope City Internship (HCI) trains people to work in missions in the Inner City.  Alongside the core value of intimacy with Jesus, HCI also focuses on a lifestyle of prayer, character development, and promoting unity in the Body of Christ.  Participants grow in the knowledge and love of God through Bible study and prayer; they also develop the life skills they need to minister in an inner city context by leading in the Hope City prayer room, serving in the soup kitchen, participating in the food distribution project, and evangelism outreaches.  We do this along with ministering to and living among recovering gang members, drug addicts, and the homeless.

Hands-on training is complemented by classroom instruction on biblical themes such as intimacy with Jesus, ministry in the power of the Holy Spirit, justice, and the emotions of God as expressed through the bridal paradigm.  Participants hear messages from Hope City leaders during the week and from Mike Bickle and others at the International House of Prayer’s main weekend services.  Whether studying the Bible, learning the harp and bowl model of worship and prayer, or spending time with the homeless, ministry at Hope City is done while maintaining the heart commitment to fall deeper in love with Jesus.

Hope City’s Trade-Off-Program (T.O.P.) is a faith based in-house program offering two 90 day back to back tracks to those struggling with addiction and other life altering circumstances.

T.O.P. represents the “Trading-Off” of our addictions to receive the life and power of Jesus Christ.  Your first 90-days will involve a schedule designed to help you detox and to train you to do the basics of daily living.  For example,  you will be getting up at the same time everyday, showing up on time and being diligent in your assignments. You will receive training and equipping in the Bible, new recovery skills and learn how to build healthy relationships.  Upon completing the first track successfully, you will be offered an opportunity to attend the second track.

Our second track offers leadership skills, goal setting, learning to work in a role or position here at Hope City. Opportunities involve music, sound, culinary, small group leadership to list a few.
